The Trading Online Voucher is a government scheme in Ireland that provides financial assistance to small businesses to enhance their online presence and e-commerce capabilities. The voucher offers funding to help businesses develop or improve their websites, implement online payment or booking systems, and conduct digital marketing campaigns.
How does the Trading Online Voucher Work?
It provides up to €2,500 in capital, with a required 50% match from the firm, as well as training and support to help your company succeed in the digital marketplace. In many cases, a reduction of up to 50 percent in the cost of establishing your online trading capability can make this investment quite cheap.
So in short if your business engages in a web design service that costs €5000, you pay the design company €5000 and then claim back the 50%, which is €2500. Alternatively, if your project costs only €3200, you can claim back €1600
Who is eligible for the Trading Online Voucher?
To be eligible, a business must meet certain criteria:
- Be a small business with less than 10 employees.
- Have a limited online trading presence.
- Operate in the Republic of Ireland.
- Have a turnover of less than €2 million.
- Be trading for at least 6 months.
- Be engaged in a sector eligible for the scheme (some sectors such as gambling, adult entertainment, and certain financial services are excluded).
Each eligible business can receive one Trading Online Voucher. However, it’s important to note that the specific details and eligibility criteria for government schemes can change over time, so it’s recommended to check the official website of the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) or the Department of Business, Enterprise, and Innovation for the most up-to-date information.
Can I get a second online trading Voucher ?
Those who have already received a voucher are eligible to apply for another one. However, they cannot apply for a second voucher unless the first claim has been completed in full.
